The Golden Gate

A magical place for photography

I wanted to start this new site out with a little introduction to my photography. I’ve been capturing images for most of my life. When I first visited California, I immediately connected with the landscape and lifestyle. I knew I had to move here. So I packed up my life and left New York, shortly after finishing college. I had studied Art, Photography and Filmmaking at SUNY Albany. I almost started working in New York City as an assistant in a Photography Studio, but I didn’t have the patience to work my way up from a low-paying entry-level job. I’m glad I made that choice and moved to Los Angeles. I had a desk job selling speakers to car stereo installers. There I got the opportunity to design monthly mailers using traditional paste-up copy machine methods. When I realized that UCLA had a Computer Graphics Lab open to the public, I convinced my boss to let me spend some afternoons on the campus designing the mail-pieces in PageMaker and FreeHand. I had discovered my connection with the Apple Macintosh and my life went off in a new direction. I bought a Mac system and started working all over the LA area in Graphic Design, Illustration & Photography. I started consulting and coordinating exhibits of this new digital art.
Eventually I realized I would prefer to live in San Francisco, and I’ll continue that story in another post…
I’ll eventually share many of my most interesting captures and creative composites here in my blog, and in the portfolio section. Thanks for stopping by.
